We Work for You Honors Leroy Weathers

In recognition of the sheer dedication, commitment, and perseverance required to be not just extraordinary but exemplary, We Work for You honors the career accomplishments of Leroy Weathers.

With over 45 years experience in service and management, Leroy Weathers has successfully worked in the electric industry where he is a dedicated partner to his colleagues and business clients. After hard times of being laid off, Mr. Weathers learned from a friend about Centel Electric. He began his career in 1960 where the first six years in this role as a serviceman, he developed the skills and attributes necessary to advance. Moving onto become an assistant to the divisional superintendent for 11 years, he was he was promoted to the divisional customer service supervisor. In this role from 1977, he maintained this position until 1995 when he retired.

Throughout his career Mr. Weathers proved his hard work and dedication that he presented at Centel Electric to other areas of his life. Throughout his career, he was active in a number of civic duties, such as the 4-H Clubs, the Boy Scouts of America and the Great Bend Economic Development Commission. He has also been active with the Pawnee Valley Scout Museum for a number of years. Mr. Weathers is also proud of his military service, having served in active duty and in the reserves until 1987. While Mr. Weathers was in the reserves, his company marched in President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s funeral procession.

Mr. Weathers has been recognized for many awards through his career in which he received alumni Award from 4-H in 1971 and the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of American in 1984. In the same year he was also awarded a plaque for being the past president of the Chamber of Commerce. In addition to providing his leadership services as the president of the Chamber of Commerce, he maintained affiliation with the Ambassadors Club, Kiwanis, the Three Eye Show and as a member of the First Congregation United Church of Christ.
