World Wide of Distinguished Professionals Honors Judge, Herschel Pickens Franks

In any profession, there are those who rise to the top, embodying the integrity and respect of their field.
There are also those who would rather set new expectations than meet old ones, setting themselves as
true paragons of the industry. In recognition of the sheer dedication, commitment, and perseverance
required to be not just extraordinary but exemplary, World Wide of Distinguished Professionals (WWDP)
honors the career accomplishments of Herschel Pickens Franks.
As a Veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, Judge Herschel Pickens Franks went on
to law school where he practiced law in Chattanooga with the firm of Harris, Moon, Meacham & Franks.
Through his journey as a lawyer, he served as the President of the Chattanooga Bar Association.
His hard work and dedication to the legal community was always recognized since he continued to serve
on the Court of Appeals. As a Chancellor, he saw the need for a law governing smaller estates, in which
he organized “The Small Estates Law”, where he oversaw several special cases and managed several
team members through his career. He was a mentor for several people, in which they had admired his
dedication and commitment to the Tennessee Supreme Court.
Judge Franks made the decision to retire after serving as Tennessee’s longest serving State Judge,
December 31, 2012.
In recognition of his dedication and commitment, Herschel Pickens Franks will also have his profile
featured in the publication World Wide of Distinguished Professionals (WWDP).
