In many instances, there are those who stand out due to their commitment to excellence and drive to exemplify the qualities of their professions. On rare occasion, a professional will rise further among the elite. In respect of the sheer dedication, commitment, and perseverance it takes to reach such heights, the Exclusive Registry Network recognizes Dr. Gertrud Lenzer as their Top Female Professional of the Year.
A professor of Sociology and Children’s Studies at Brooklyn College as well as the Graduate Center of The City University of New York’s Ph.D Program, Dr. Gertrud Lenzer has been at the forefront of children’s rights for decades. In 1991, Dr. Lenzer was the Founding Chair of the American Sociological Association’s Sociology of Children field. With her at the helm, Brooklyn College developed a liberal arts Children’s Study program; the first academic institution to do so. Additionally, Dr. Lenzer founded the Children’s Studies Center for Research, Policy, and Public Service, the framework of which was provided by the U.N Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). Currently, Dr. Lenzer is serving on the New York State Advisory Committee of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights in addition to her aforementioned academic positions.
